The basic structure of plastic mold includes the following parts

(1) Molded parts

Refers to the parts that form the cavity and directly contact the melt and form plastic parts. Usually there are punches, cores, molding rods, concave molds, molding rings, inserts and other parts. After the movable mold and the fixed mold are closed. The molded part determines the internal and external contours and dimensions of the plastic part. Figure 4.1 shows the mold. The cavity is composed of concave chess 3, convex mold 4 and movable template 12.

(2) Pouring system

The flow of the plastic melt from the nozzle of the injection machine to the cavity is called the pouring system, which is composed of a main flow channel, a branch flow channel, a flexible nozzle and a cold material well.

(3) Guiding and positioning mechanism

To ensure that the movable mold and the fixed mold are closed, they can be accurately guided and positioned. Usually, guide posts and guide sleeves are set on the movable mold and the fixed mold respectively. The deep cavity injection mold must also be provided with a cone positioning on the main parting surface. Sometimes in order to ensure the accurate movement and reset of the demoulding mechanism, guide parts are also provided.

(4) Demoulding mechanism

It refers to the mechanism that removes the plastic part from the mold at the later stage of the mold opening process.

(5) Lateral parting core pulling mechanism

Plastic parts with undercuts or side holes must be side-parted or pulled out of the side punch or side core before being ejected from the mold.

(6) Temperature regulation system

In order to meet the mold temperature requirements of the injection process. The mould is equipped with a cooling or heating temperature regulation system. For mold cooling, cooling water channels are generally opened in the template. For heating, electric heating elements are installed in or around the mold. Some injection molds must be equipped with automatic mold temperature adjustment devices.

(7) Exhaust system

In order to exhaust the original air in the cavity during the injection and filling process, exhaust measures are often set at the parting surface. The displacement of the small leather is not large, and the parting surface can be used directly for exhaust. The gap between the ejector pin or core of the chess set and the matching hole can also be used for exhaust. Large-scale injection molds must be pre-installed with special exhaust grooves.
